"Our World Book Day workshops were fantastic! Thank you coming and bringing with you your amazing storytelling skills, imagination and ability to inspire our children! All the children were really engaged including the EAL children and those who usually struggle to sit and listen! "
St Anne's Infants' School, 2019
My 'Wild Word' storytelling workshops nurture and develop literacy skills by encouraging children to approach literature in a weird-er and wild-er sort of way - it's all about engaging with a great tale!
These action-packed storytelling sessions, accompanied by sounds and sensations that bring the characters and their adventures vividly to life, are fully interactive with plenty of dress up and duelling, dancing and laughing to enjoy and, once the storytelling is done, I hand over to the real imagination experts who can spend time embellishing the creatures and characters they have just encountered and telling her all about the next exciting stage of the story - cue creative story-crafting!
The tales I tells range from Odysseus's adventures on the enchanted island of Aiaia and Sir Gawain's gallant stand against the Green Knight, to favourite tales first told by much loved authors like Roald Dahl and J.K Rowling!
Every session features an exciting variety of imaginative outdoor-inspired activities; each incorporating an element of The Great Outdoors and using strong sensory stimuli to spice up every exercise. From folk tales around the fire to the sniffing, scratching and sampling of objects encountered in our tales and leopard crawling across a floor in pursuit of an entirely new perspective - our sessions are as much about discovery and exploration as they are about weaving a worlds of words!
